Derek and Romaine’s Season Of Giving

It is time for the Derek and Romaine Annual Season of Giving! This year we are doing things a little bit differently. As you know 2016 has been both a challenging and rewarding year for our show. One of the highlights of 2016 came in the form something we have started calling the Angel Grant. One of our listeners wanted to ensure that our show could grow and thrive in a new studio location in New York City and they helped us by giving us a grant. We were beyond thrilled to accept their help but we insisted that the angel grant had to extend beyond just helping us. So, we asked if we could use some of the grant money to launch an internship program. Our goal is to recruit young people from various LGBT non-profit organizations including: The NYC LGBT Center and Ali Forney Center among others.

derek_copy1The Derek and Romaine Internship Program will provide these young people with the opportunity to learn in a hands-on work environment. We have always taken tremendous pride in mentoring past interns and look forward to providing a new batch of young people with the real world work experience needed to become future of LGBT media professionals. Our internship will be a paid position with the hope that we can not only educate but in some cases, actually help some of our interns get on their feet and into a safe and livable housing

So how can you help? Our Angel Grant gave us a great start on raising the funds to make our internship program a reality but we still need to raise additional income to help support the program. We need to ensure that we have the income in place to not only pay our interns but to help us by hiring an additional set of hands to help mentor our interns. In addition, we will purchase resource materials to help train our interns on the latest broadcasting technology. We are thrilled that with the help of the NYC LGBT Center we are able to accept tax-deductible donations. The money you donate will go directly to fund the Derek and Romaine Internship Program. This is your chance to not only help Derek and Romaine, but to help change the lives of the next generation of LGBT youth.  When you make a donation to the Derek and Romaine Internship Program you are making an investment in the future of LGBT media. Please be a Derek and Romaine angel and join us in this Season of Giving by making your DONATION today.

Thankful this morning for Derek and Romaine. And donated as a small gesture to show my appreciation for what you two do and are trying to create. It’s a pleasure and honor to know you and also enjoy your premium quality A+ work. Best wishes to you two as you spend time away from the mike and take some well deserved time off.

    Best regards (always)!
