Whoa! Apple podcast app just downloaded old episodes as new

Pulled up my podcast app and it showed like 30 old episodes as new.  Something caused past episodes to spit out as new again.
Also – Am I the only that hates this new discussion format?  Not intuitive at all

Part 2 – after sorting through all the downloaded episodes and trying to play 6/29 and 6/30, they will not play. “This episode is temporarily unavailable from ‘Derek and Romaine 2.0.”

Still same for me too 🙁

Robert Masuch replied 3 weeks ago

Same here

Ditto

Podcast addict did the same thing. All of a sudden I had a bunch of new episodes. Thought Derek and Romaine decided to take the month of July off. 🙂

The episodes didn’t down so easy to remove.

My podcast app also showed the feed reset as all-new, plus it dropped anything prior to June 1. There were still some shows in late May I wanted to hear. Worst of all, no shows will play. “Error . . . Try again later . . . Something happened.”

Yes, the Friday episode that I had already downloaded will play but I cannot download any more. I think something is wrong with the DNR server or the connection to the podcast. Now there is no connection at all which is why you cannot download.
Other podcasts are working.

Yeah, I can’t get the episodes with clouds to play or download. Hoping just another glitch. I’m not getting flash alerts. So signed up again but it said I was already registered. So much technology…so little time. Will have patience…

Just got this response from uncle Jeffy.

There was an issue that I just corrected. To get the podcast to update – you should unsubscribe ammd re-subscribe with your private URL. All of the links has to be corrected.

Wow – that’s the solution? Since this problem seems to be almost universal, everyone has to unsubscribe and resubscribe again? I don’t even remember how I did that. I don’t know where to start.

Brian Hubbell replied 3 weeks ago

I have no idea how universal it is but i did it and it worked. In the podcast app you go into the dnr and hit the little gear towards to the top of the screen. Then hit the subscribed button. Then go back into the dnr site and click on subscriptions and at the bottom of the page is your private URL and click on it and then your are done. I had to select the 7/1-7/3 episodes to redownload but it worked after that

F replied 3 weeks ago

OK thanks Brian – Let me add a clarification – do all of the above but make sure you go to the DNR site on your mobile. Then click on the private URL. (At first I tried it on my desktop and that definitely won’t work!)

Other than that – it all worked.

Brian Hubbell replied 3 weeks ago

Yes. I did all that on iPhone not on my laptop

Brian Hubbell answered 3 weeks ago

Mine downloaded the last nine episodes and whenever I try to launch one I get the error that the episode is unavailable at this time

F replied 3 weeks ago

If you are showing the little “cloud” icon, you really haven’t downloaded them. Only if the cloud icon is gone will it play. The 2 I downloaded work fine. Older episodes keep showing up as new, with cloud icons.
Other podcasts that have the cloud icon download ok. So this is related to something at DNR only.

Brian Hubbell replied 3 weeks ago

After Friday’s show all of the long weekend episodes downloaded and didn’t have the little cloud and were working as I was listening to the Focus Group one. Then at some point yesterday they downloaded again. The 30th’s episode and later all have cleared up. The 7/1-7/4 episodes all have the little cloud and will not download or play.

Of after checking my emails, there was a flash alert that stated they are updating servers and this issue may happen. I hadn’t checked emails yet

F replied 3 weeks ago

AND once again I am not getting my flash alerts. Even though I keep telling them I am not getting them

Mara replied 3 weeks ago

Has anyone emailed Uncle Jeffy?

Brian Hubbell replied 3 weeks ago

Since they sent the flash alert I figured giving them 24 hrs to correct the issues because it seemed that it was being worked on. However since we have not received any new updates on the issue I just email him.

DNRShow Staff replied 2 weeks ago

Frank, you are on the flash alerts email list. Maybe it is in your AOL spam folder!

Jeff was working on the server last Saturday and created an issue with the podcast feed. Unfortunately, he didn’t realize the feed was still down until about 48 hours later. All of the issues with the podcast feeds for the Podcast app on the iPhone and Podcast Addict for Android have been resolved Please note we need make an update to the podcast feed that it only now downloads the most recent 30 days of shows. We were incurring huge data bills because the feed was automatically downloading all shows from the archive (over 700 hours) overtime someone subscribed which was a lot of wasted data. We are working on a work around for that to make all of the shows available again on the app, but in the meantime, it is limited to 30 days and all of the shows are of course still available from the dawn of time (aka Jan 2016) for download through the website.
