Well it is day three of the brand new DNR Show and it has been a real mixed bag for sure.
For some people, it has been a great experience. The show sounds good. No log-in issues. Got their Day One shirt ordered. Boom. For others, some issues.
Our biggest issue happened on Monday when our whole site crashed at the start of the show. Our site was slammed with more than 1.1 million hits in the first hour alone. Now, that is hits, not people, but still. It was thousands of people trying to get to us all at once. And many, many more than we anticipated on our first day.
On the one hand this was very gratifying. Finally Romaine’s Believe Receive was coming true! But on the other it was troubling. Here are all these people who want to hear the show and can’t. What if they get mad and just walk away and never come back?
So far everyone has been very nice and very patient. And after we stripped down our site and better prepared our server company, we still had some outages during the second night of shows. So we made the executive decision to not wait until the weekend and immediately move the show and site to a new sever overnight.
This has meant new error messages and new problems for people but hopefully these will all be temporary. The site is coming back online by region so we expect by the start of our third show that everyone who wants to listen will be able to listen and the site will be up and running smoothly the whole time. Plus the whole experience has inspired a new, hilarious Day Two shirt.
And yes, once we are sure the site is stable and running as it should, we will bring back the chat room because that turned out to be insanely popular. In the meantime, post your comments on our front page wall or tweet using the hashtag #DNRShow!
We will have a streaming archive of the most recent shows up by this weekend and the past two shows are available for download now on the Audio Archive page in case you missed them.
Thanks for taking a chance on us. We know the first couple of days have been rocky for sure! But we are working hard to deliver the craptastic show you have always loved. Thanks for your patience.
