Some insight into the DNR INTERNSHIP by current interns!!
I am one of the first interns that participated in the DNR internship through the Ali Forney Center. This journey has been very enlightening to the ins and outs of online radio production and has been a great learning experience. I have been able to improve some of my previous skills, while also adding new skills to my list. The DNR team was every accommodating to schedules, learning speeds, and trial and error assignments. They believe in uplifting our community through nurturing our most vulnerable and by exposing them to new non-traditional job opportunities. – Orlando
Being in this internship with DNR was the best thing close to doing what I love. I learned a lot working here; I learned how to edit shows, do promos, use the sound bar, and more tech that I wanted to learn. Derek and Romaine are good teachers, I mean Derek teaches you how to throw shade but Romaine teaches you how to be tough and a boss at using tech. Here as an intern at DNR I mainly edit, make 5 minute intros, guest prep, and more. These things might sound hard but they become very easy because of Katie, she doesn’t rush you with anything, its really laid back if you are doing what you need 2 do. If I can do an extended internship I would love to do so. You can really learn so much coming here!!!! – Lexxie
