Hey guys! It is Orlando the intern here. Lets take a journey into my life at the DNR Studio. It is nothing but exploding FUN! I was afforded this opportunity through the Ali Forney Center LEAP program. Bit of background on me: I am full bred Jamaican, recently migrated to New York in 2017 so I am ‘fresh of the boat’.
Back to the real issue dealing with Derek, Romaine and Katie! You would think it is hard dealing with this crazy trio but it wasn’t, it was actually enjoyable. I have learned quite a lot during my internship for the short time it lasted. Even though some of the duties I was scared to take on as I was not so familiar with it but they were accompanying and patient to my learning and development. They were definitely friendly (even though Romaine does not talk to me directly a lot but through Kate LOL) and definitely made the environment very welcoming and home-like.
I had a great time listening to the callers and seeing the many guests and visitors that came through the DNR doors. It was quite a very diverse group of individuals that gave me a glimpse into very different career paths, groups of people, and views of society. It is a very well rounded internship here at the DNR studio where an intern gets to learn the different aspects of radio production. Well some parts may be more exciting than others, they play apart in creating the bigger picture/audio that the listeners are then exposed to.
While I wish my time here was longer as with all things they most come to an end. But I will definitely make sure to learn as much as I can and enjoy the journey until the last minute of the last hour of the last day of my time here at DNR Show.
It was amazing here and I can’t wait for others to enjoy this experience also!
